Chipotle does not have a gluten free menu but instead has a list of gluten-containing ingredients to avoid. Cross-contamination is a concern, however, so let the person taking your order know that you are gluten free and if you need them to take the proper precautions.
From their website: "If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."
My favorite chipotle! If I order on the app, I label my meal as “name + gluten allergy”. The staff always changes their gloves before handling my bowl. I’ve never gotten sick!

We asked to eat Gluten Free. The person in charge along with line workers changed gloves, wiped surfaces, got out new serving utensils, got all fresh food needed for our orders and made our bowls. We appreciated their thoroughness and concern.

Yay for the Westview Chipotle in Frederick! I told the woman behind the counter that I have Celiac's and she immediately changed her gloves and personally handled my order thru the entire serving line.
I should have waited a few hours before giving my review. Even though the woman who served me did her best, there was still cross contamination. A couple hours later I had bloating and was running for a bathroom. Sorry but Chipotle is not Celiac Friendly.

Let me start off by saying, WOW. Never have I ever felt co fident in ordering from a non dedicated place before but they employees were EXTREMELY knowledgeable. I asked what they are gf procedures are and right away the nice employe wiped off the counter and without me having to ask he got all the ingredients fresh from the back with clean gloves and a new bowl. He was super nice and friendly, I will 100% be back here again. Seriously this is the place to go if your in the area.

Went in today after an endoscopy/colonoscopy and smiled at the employee. I said I am gluten free so I'm going to get a salad. She clearly had the wrong reaction. At the register I politely said something like 'if someone tells you they're gluten free the best thing to do is to acknowledge that'. She snapped back as if prepared, in a rude, angry tone, "I didn't do anything wrong!" She sure heard me but never reacted with anything but a bad attitude.
I'm sharing this with you so you know there is not proper training at this store...I am still recovering from anesthesia so this was extra bad for me today. I did call corporate. Realize Chipotle is all about exclaiming "gluten free menu items, safety blah blah" as a chain but each store is magically different from the next.

They have an allergy statement in the front of line telling you to alert them of an allergy. I mentioned I had a gluten allergy and could they do a glove change. They were very nice about it but clearly weren’t very knowledgeable about what to do so just be clear with them. I asked for them to get fresh lettuce, cheese and guac from the back. I also know to avoid the corn salsa and the chips. They stuffed my bowl and it was delicious. I’ll definitely go back.

We eat here fairly frequently. We always ask the employees to wash their hands and change gloves. Most ingredients are GF, except the tortillas, so the kids get corn shell tacos and my husband and I get bowls. Avoid the cheese and lettuce if you are celiac or very sensitive - cheese and lettuce are the two ingredients where employees use their hands instead of a utensils. On occasion we’ve had to ask an employee to wash their hands twice, when they forgot and touched someone else order while in the midst of fulfilling ours.

My experiences at this Chipotle Mexican Grill have all been good. The customer service is decent, and the food is safe and tasty!
You really don't have to worry about gluten because virtually everything is gluten-free, excluding the flour tortillas. The food is what you'd expect: it isn't super high-quality meat, but it is seasoned and tasty (especially when you're in the mood for it)!
And as a plus, this Chipotle has a drive-thru, which is nice if you're someone who doesn't like to get out of their car to order. Although, I prefer going inside.

Best GF fast food experience so far. They didn’t make me feel weird or like I took too much time. I told them I have a gluten allergy and the line stopped. They changed spoons for what I ordered, wiped down the counter, got out fresh cheese and lettuce, changed gloves, and one person took charge of my order seeing it through to the end of the line. I know there’s still a risk, but I’m thankful for all they did to help me eat with my family.

While there’s obviously a chance of cross contamination, the workers here are very nice and accommodating. Everything except for the tortillas is gluten free. I always ask them to change their gloves and this past time a worker felt her glove touch the tortillas after changing them so she immediately changed them again! They never have a problem getting lettuce or cheese from the back which I appreciate! I have not had a reaction here yet and I am very sensitive!

I love chipotle sooooo much I’ve only ever eaten chipotle from this location, so I can only speak for this one, but they are so nice and friendly. I always ask them to change their gloves and make them aware that I have Celiac and they’re always super nice about it. Everything they serve is gluten free BESIDES the tortillas. So I always get a burrito bowl with chips (their gf as well). Always a 10/10 and I’ve never once gotten glutened here

Chipotle is a great quick option for GF food. Tortillas are not GF but everything else is. Ask staff to change their gloves and let them know You have a gluten allergy. Chips are corn and GF because they don’t fry anything else. I always get a bowl with rice, meats and veggies and I’ve never had an issue.

Stopped at Chipotle for a salad and some chips. Informed staffing up front that I was a celiac. Employee was great as he washed his hands, changed his gloves and pulled my lettuce from the fresh stuff in back to avoid cross contamination so I thought everything was going to be safe. About 4 hours later, I realized I got glutened. Although the employee took every precaution in preparing my food, the preparation of the food was not carefully done and cross contamination was present. I loved Chipotle but I will not eat here again. Bummer.

I had an amazing experience at this new Chipotle, safety-wise. I said I had an allergy and the employees instantly stopped making all other orders and wiped down the entire countertop, and the one making my order changed gloves. They also got out new spoons / bins of ingredients. Even the person who checked me out at the register washed his hands before touching just the outside of my bowl. This was all unprompted!
I plan to keep returning if this is the sort of service I continue to get. I’ve had (and heard about) iffy experiences at some other locations but this one clearly takes allergies seriously.
4/14/24: just wanted to update that I have had several more amazing in-person experiences here too. The employees have also been SO POLITE and friendly, whereas those at other Chipotles or restaurants have seemed not the most patient about allergy requests. My partner has also mobile ordered food with my order under the name “GLUTEN ALLERGY” several times and I haven’t gotten sick (sensitive to CC). Awesome work by this location!

When we told the employee we had celiac disease she was so so nice. She washed hands, changed gloves and went and got fresh bins of food and utensils from the back without even having to ask her. It was relatively busy so I was surprised she took the time to do that. She was the only one to touch our bowls to ensure there was no contamination. I will always go out of my way to go to this chipotle, even though there are closer locations.

I always order a bowl with whatever toppings minus lettuce and cheese, since they grab that with their hands after handling flour tortillas. Never had any issues following these rules. Pro-tip: If you order a vegetarian bowl, you won't get charged extra for guac.

We requested corn tortillas for our tacos and when they started to make the tacos I told her multiple times the tortillas looked like flour tortillas but she swore they were corn but once we tried them it was obvious they were flour. They wouldn’t remake them either just handed us corn tortillas to transfer the already contaminated filling over to the new tortilla shells.

I eat chipotle regularly. For full transparency, I don't give any special instructions, but only choose gluten free ingredients. Somehow, I rarely ever get sick eating Chipotle. If very very low levels of cross contamination don't tend to set you off, Chipotle is one of the safer gambles IMO.

Great choice here for often difficult Food court meals. Was informed that all the ingredients were GF apart from the wraps ??? chose a steak Burrito bowl with all the salads and brown rice and medium sauce. Didn’t risk the dressings apart from sour cream - very tasty and so far not glutened - Servers happy to change gloves.

If you ask the workers to change their gloves and notify them you have a gluten allergy they will make the necessary accommodations. Isn’t always perfect as it highly depends on the worker, but have had many good experiences here. Always practice safety at a chain!
