The corn chips and crispy corn tortillas are fried in a shared fryer with gluten items. The fajitas are marinated in beer. Literally the only thing on the menu I could eat was a taco salad without the tortilla shell. There are soooo many other celiac-friendly Tex Mex places in Austin. There’s no reason to go here.

I see the terrible reviews, but I haven’t had a bad experience here. The staff isn’t as knowledgeable, so you have to do your homework in advance, but I’ve eaten here twice since diagnosis and have left with no symptoms.
I bring my own chips to eat the Queso, and order based on research. I heard the fajita beef is marinated in beer. So I tend to get crispy tacos. I emailed the manager to double check on the ground beef seasoning, and he sent me their gluten friendly menu. Hopefully this helps someone…

I called and asked what was safe, basically only the rice and beans and guacamole and cheese and pico were safe. Ordered corn tortillas, and they came mixed in with flour ones, which thankfully I noticed before eating any. I think they have issues with cross contamination since I had a bad reaction after eating there. Don't risk it, it's not worth it.

No, avoid this place is not good. Not worth the price and barely any gluten free options.
Food SUCKS. Only two or three options and they are terrible. I will never be back here

I should have done my research beforehand. The waiter checked on the chips, queso and taco salad minus the shell and told me they were safe to eat. I was already feeling sick before my meal arrived. After eating at the restaurant I called to talk to a manager and learned that chips are fried with all the other gluten-containing items and flour is put in almost everything they make including the meats and queso. Very disappointed and will not be returning here.

No GF menu. Warms corn tortillas and flour ones on same surface so can’t even have corn. Chicken is marinated in beer. Could easily offer enchiladas, corn tacos, and Mexi salads gluten free (with small dedicated prep area and grilling non marinated chicken and offering GF ranch dressing) but chain apparently doesn’t want our business or the family members we take with us to places that offer safe options.

If you are vegetarian, there’s a few gf options like quesadillas, chips/guac, and veggie enchiladas. The meat is not gluten free! Their gluten free menu is definitely lacking. We went when the restaurant was super slow so they were able to accommodate for cross contamination.

If you tell them you have an allergy, they will send a manager out and explain in detail what is safe. The manager will also bring out your food. They are amazing and so friendly about everything.
I usually get the southwest enchilada with boom boom and plain roasted chicken (the other chicken is marinated with gluten) and I’ve never been sick!!

I had a great experience at Chuy’s with their awareness to Celiac disease and their ability to make sure everything was safe for me to eat. The General Manager, Bentley, was awesome and I would highly recommend requesting him to talk to when you go in!!

I loved this place before Celiac diagnosis. I was told they marinate meat in beer. Not gf friendly! I brought my own chips and had guac. and hot sauce.
