While they did give me a bowl to designate me as gluten free, and kept a portion of the flat top grill sectioned off, i don't know if it had been cleaned off.
Secondly, while there i gluten free sauces, they are kept right next to non GF sauces, which with very little effort, splash into each other with no barrier to prevent that from happening. Major cross contamination.
The food was good for those that can handle gluten .

I have Celiac and was very unsure about eating here. They give you a special bowl and alert the grill;who then cleans a special spot for when you're ready. They did an amazing job! Things were marked as far as sauces so I knew what was safe for me, but they do have an allergy menu for reference. Cross contamination is possible on the buffet(where u get your ingredients), im super sensitive and did not leave sick! We will definitely go back. Thanks for accommodating people with diet restrictions it really means alot to us when you really show great care and concern when we eat at you're establishment.

Staff was not helpful at all when I asked about GF options and what I should avoid. Lots of cross contamination, I got very sick after.

HuHot does not have a gluten free menu but does have an allergen list and a list of gluten free sauces. Ask them to clean a spot on the grill and use different utensils, if necessary.
The sauces are most likely cross contaminated because when you scoop sauce with a ladle, it drips in all of the sauces on the way to your bowl. The gf sauces are not kept away from the others, unfortunately.

I get glutened everytime I am here. The restaurant is buffet style and full of cross contamination. I have soy allergies too and just can't find something to eat here that's safe. However, my non celiac family members love this restaurant and go all the time without me!

Awesome place. They give you a bowl in a specific color. You fill it with all of your favorite veggies and meats. Then Add sauce. All signature sauces are GF. Then they cook it right in front of you. Before cooking, they thoroughly clean the grill and then they section it off with your food only. They use clean utensils that is used only with your food.

They provide a different colored bowl for your allergy, that way when the cooks see the bowl in line they clean the grill off which includes sanding it down, rinsing twice, scraping, and rinsing again. Once that’s done they take a pair of the giant spatulas and section off your area so no splatter or other food gets in yours, AND the other cooks at the grill know to exercise caution near it. They also never let the spatulas they use to cook your food with tough the grill, they rest them on a clean plate. No cross contamination here! Appleton is super careful compared to the other HuHots I’ve been to, (st.paul in particular) they even put the rice noodles away from the wheat containing noodles so that you can have those contamination free of the other noodles!

The good, the staff was knowledgeable about allergies and cross contamination. Brought menu with allergens. They have gluten free soy sauce, and can bring rice. They clean the area pretty thoroughly before cooking food. Use different clean utensils. Food was decent. The bad, the rice noodles are right next to the wheat noodles. I saw some wheat noodles end up in the rice noodles. The sauces are all right next to each other, so there is a high chance of contamination. Even though they clean the grill , they are cooking next to other foods that are splattering.
You receive a different color bowl that identifies you as an allergy. They also notify the griller to clean an area of the grill for you. They use different spatulas and they're very careful about cross-contamination.
Yes
If you ask when checking in, they give you special bowls that indicate a food allergy and have a menu with lots of allergen information. They also have special procedures to clean the grill surface and use dedicated, new cooking utensils. Only downside is few GF sauces. And obviously with any sort of buffet / salad bar setup cross contamination is a consideration.

It was an incredible experience. Every time that a person with allergies came they shout VIP! That’s so kind. They have you a yellow bowl to differentiate from other costumers. The people who cooked the food was aware of our needs and also cleaned the surface where they cooked, very carefully. The waitress was kind and offered to give us food from the kitchen in case we thought that could have cross contamination. Again, amazing experience! Food tasted delicious too!

All of their sauces are no longer gluten free (only 3 are now). I only incidentally discovered this looking at a table advert halfway through my meal. I confirmed this change with the manager. The problem lies with the big metal sign over the sauces still states all sauces are gluten free (as it was in years past). I passed upon him the importance of changing the sign as it is misleading and people can get really sick. Sad to lose this restraunt, I used to look forward to the yummy food and all the options I had. *note, if you like only sweet and sour or coconut peanut sauce, you should be okay to continue. The people at the grill will clean it if you ask, beware of cross contamination risk though as they tend to use the same spatulas.

Tasty food, we love date night here once and a while! GF option is rice noodles then veggies and meat and sauces. They will clean the grill and separate your food from others if you make them aware of a gluten allergy.

From start to finish the care I received was absolutely phenomenal! Veggies were separate from meats and noodles. Crab has gluten but we know that so don’t get that or the noodles. They gave me a designated bowl to collect my items and placed bars around my food after literally scrubbing the grill. I had my rice to mix at the table and even got seconds!
