They have no idea what gluten is. I asked them to change gloves bc I have gluten allergy. He said nothing here has any gluten.

I’ve ate here twice and both times made sure to get all GF ingredients but both times I had a reaction the next day. Probably too much cross contamination, not worth it!

The style is kind of like chipotle where you walk through the food-bar and tell the person preparing your bowl which items you want. The other reviewers seem to think there may be some cross-contamination risk, so maybe go look at what the bar looks like before ordering to be on the safe side. But for me, I've ordered here quite frequently and never had issues. I use the cava app, which you can set to tell you which items CONTAIN GLUTEN (pita crisps, falafel, spicy falafel, and some things that don't go in the bowls - pitas, pita chips, dessert items). The app also has discounts/points if you're signed in. I do worry that they might outright give me pita crisps when I didn't order them, so I always look through my bowl before eating. Obviously, you won't be able to see if something just rubbed against your food or used a shared surface, but so far I haven't gotten sick from cava, leading me to believe that there isn't much cross-contamination the times that I ordered. I personally feel safe enough eating at cava. There's a lot of variety, and tasty/healthy options. Good portion size for the price.

Staff did not know what gluten was and told me the pita chips where safe but not the tatziki…. There are bread crumbs everywhere and the risk of cross contamination seems strong. Food looked amazing but before eating I tested it with the Nima gluten detector machine and it found gluten. Maybe if you go before rushes or in the morning it might be safe… but I doubt it

Helps to time you visit to avoid peak rush. I am celiac and do eat here but I try to come before the lunch rush and avoid the area of the buffet where the pita crisps are. Basically all toppings are gf but there are pitas present and pita chips as a topping option. They change gloves but do not pull toppings from the back of the restaurant or anything if you have an allergy.

Almost everything is naturally GF. Delicious and fresh. Experience does seem to be somewhat dependent on the staff you get that day.

I walked in there to get lunch. The person in line was having their order made. The staffer had rice in a bowl and a piece of pita in hand on top of the rice. The patron then said they didn’t want rice, so he proceeded to pour the rice right back into the container. I walked out and left and did not eat there.

Upon ordering I asked if he could use fresh gloves as I have celiac and not only did he do so, he also washed his hands and seemed unbothered about it. My Chicken & Rightrice bowl was delicious and I had no symptoms of cross contact.

I originally liked this place a lot after eating here a few times with no reaction but the staff started getting really irritated with my requests and simply just not listening to me (i.e. telling them to change their gloves and then turning around to touch the pita… then having to ask them again to change their gloves). They usually give me a hard time there now and I’ve noticed when I go with friends there is a lot of cross contamination happening before the food ever hits the line. I’m super bummed because this place tastes so great, so I learned to make it for myself at home instead :)

Build your bowl as you move through the line. Everything was gluten free except the pita bread. Notified our server and she immediately washed her hands, changed her gloves, wiped everything down and then personally made our bowls start to finish. Really great experience.

I’ve eaten here a few times and the staff does a great job changing gloves, using clean utensils, and making the whole process seamless for never me when ordering. I usually get the black lentils, plain hummus, chicken, and avocado. Delicious and healthy!
